Although we were treated to her beautiful covers EP in 2021, Brigid Mae Power‘s last album, ‘Head Above Water‘, was released in 2020. In his review of the album, Thomas Blake brought a focus to her voice when he said: “She has a way of singing that is personal and personable, a delivery that feels as if it is directly relating her interior monologues from her mind to yours, and yet she never shies away from difficult and potentially painful subjects.” She has never shied away from digging deep and today, with her new single Dream From The Deep Well, she does just that.
Dream From The Deep Well is the title track of her new album, out on 30th June via Fire Records. The album is likened to daubing new colours on a much-loved canvas, a way of waving back at her rootsy past and embracing new beginnings – a unique marriage of traditional stylings and very modern melodies – modern folk for modern folk.
Talking about the song, she says, “It’s a deep dig, as the title track suggests. I was sick of the superficial nature of politics and music; it was written out of frustration at people who talk a lot but do nothing, especially in the sad and difficult times we’ve all just encountered.”
