In October last year, Phil Tyler and Sarah Hill released What We Thought Was A Lake Was A Field Of Flax (released onFerric Mordant). Taken from that album, they have just shared a new video for Matt Hyland, a folk song many of you may recognise from Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick’s 1968 album But Two Came By.
As mentioned in our album review, Phil and Sarah first met in Newcastle around 2008, where they played in local folk nights and sang in Sacred Harp sessions, leading to Hill contributing vocals to a few songs on Tyler’s solo album We Sunk The Ship To Get Rid Of The Rats.
If you’ve not yet heard the album, then I highly recommend that you check it out – Order What We Thought Was A Lake Was A Field Of Flax on CD via Bandcamp | Norman Records
