Devon-songwriter Mae Karthauser returns on 17th March 2023 with her new trio and new album ‘August‘ – the album features a collection of songs, each written in one day, all within one month: August 2021.
Simplicity and authenticity are core concepts and building blocks for this album, which is reflected in the arrangements made for a trio of piano, flute and cello with three vocals. Rather than striving to achieve technical perfection, her straightforward approach aims to make her songs honest, authentic and relatable to the listener.
The album is to be launched at The Great Hall, Dartington, Devon, which has a rich history of innovation and experimentation. Mae recently shared a live video for the album track ’10 Minutes’, on which she is joined by her trio – flautist Ronja Schlumberger and cellist Ben Roberts. The arrangements have an organic and playful feel, and Mae’s vocals seem to thrive in this environment, sounding at home, as if lost in the moment. She is totally at ease, as she creates a colourful and captivating atmosphere that beckons you to stop and take it all in.
Mae & her trio will perform & launch the album at the Great Hall, Dartington, on 17th March 2023 – Tickets here.
