Finding beauty in the bleakest places, Toria Wooff (Tor-ee-a Woo-f) shares stories of the world around her. A hyper-real painter, poet and musician with Synesthesia, the characters she encounters emerge through song and ‘All I Dream About (Is You)’ showcases a more vulnerable side to her artistry.
“It explores the pained journey of love and the grief of losing a close friend and the haunting reality of never seeing them again.”
Upturning expectations of what it means to be ‘folk’ by making the heartache magical, ‘All I Dream About (Is You)’ is the perfect entry point into Toria Wooff’s mystical repertoire. Emerging from a place of despair with a penchant for gothic darkness, pedal steel, Hammond organ and beautiful string sections are pushed through a 70s lens to offer the perfect disguise of a ballad from the wild dustlands of America – not the weathered hills of her hometown in Lancashire.
All I Dream About (Is You) was recorded with producer and mix engineer James Wyatt in his Sloe Flower Studio, ‘All I Dream About (Is You)’ was built from acoustic demos with the pair aiming to create a feeling of an early 70s inspired, full band production whilst retaining the intimacy the song demands. To bring the magical vision to life, they enlisted an ensemble of session musician friends; Dave Ormsby (drums), Danny Miller (double bass), Ross Munro (organ), Joe Coombs (baritone guitar), Scott Poley (pedal steel), Liz Lister (violin & viola) and Polly Virr (cello).
‘All I Dream About (Is You)’ follows the soul-stirring single ‘James Edward’. Featured on the BBC Big Country Show, YouTube Music’s ‘The New Americana’ and Apple Music’s ‘New Music’ editorials, Toria Wooff entwines her experiences with gothic romanticism and the songwriting is showcased in the alchemy of her ‘70s sound and vision.
