Far Away is the new single from Alt-folk singer/songwriter and actor Bay Bryan. Earlier this year, we premiered their meticulously crafted single ‘Sweet Joan’, one in which I highlighted the meticulous craftsmanship of their creation. Far Away, which is released this Friday, 18th November, is equally stunning. This is the fourth single to be taken from their upcoming album, The Meadow, which is looking to be a stunner to look forward to in 2023.
Bay shared the following:
“Far Away represents the final actions we take in order to bring ourselves to that point of no return. Right to the very edge. Maybe it’s a relationship, or a job –perhaps a way of being. You’ve already made the decision in your heart to leave, but now you have to actually do it. “The Meadow” (the concept album world where Far Away belongs) is this space that represents what we have come to know –a sort of familiarity and safety. But sometimes staying safe isn’t the best thing for us; and there might come a point where we’ve overstayed our welcome. We feel it in our guts.
“And it’s totally cheesy in a way (I feel like that’s the elephant in the room) but I kind of love that. And I’m not sure if everyone will love it (for that reason). I admit it gets pretty close to being saccharine in moments but hopefully, people feel the genuineness of where it’s all coming from, and that some of the more cliché notes have a self-awareness that makes it more tongue-and-cheek? Not sure it comes across though, so I’ll wait for the response…”
