Last month, we shared the news, along with their first single “Hold Out For Love”, that James Yorkston is to record another album with The Second Hand Orchestra, a Swedish collective led by Karl-Jonas Winqvist. The Great White Sea Eagle is due for release on January 13th and joining them this time around is special guest Nina Persson (The Cardigans).
Today they are sharing the second cut from the record, “An Upturned Crab”. A song regretting missed moments of family life and seeing a child’s delight, Yorkston and Persson sing “I made a life on the road, and I thought I was doing grand / But the gold remained at home, and I missed watching you grow.” Stream it here.
They have also unveiled a live version of “An Upturned Crab”, recorded at the same session as “Hold Out For Love” which features the additional talents of Radiohead’s Philip Selway (watch it below).
James Yorkston, Nina Persson and members of The Second Hand Orchestra will be heading out on UK tour next February, additionally, Yorkston has a string of solo dates and two Scandinavian shows with Nina Persson to round out the year (details below).
