We have the pleasure of sharing the new video from Sheffield Troubadour Samuel James Taylor, a soulful songwriter whose fingerstyle guitar playing is quite beautiful as well. ‘Time May Dance‘ is the second single from his upcoming album ‘Wild Tales and Broken Hearts’, which will be released through UK record label Ki An Projects on October 21st. The album was recorded live over three days at Skinny Elephant Studios in Nashville, TN (USA).
He shared the following on ‘Time May Dance’:
“Life sometimes takes us down an unexpected path, a fork in the road we weren’t prepared for, and, for myself, this manifested in an autoimmune diagnosis, forcing me to hit the brakes on a life of long tours, late nights and heavy lifting. This opened up a door to a time of self-reflection and questioning. I couldn’t find myself in my music for the first time in my life. It was an isolating and lonely place. I wasn’t sure how to get out of it and, for a while, I questioned whether it would be easier just to let it all go. Time May Dance was written during this period. It came together very quickly; it was kind of a heart-on-the-sleeve moment, a love letter to my wife… But as I look back at it now, I realise I was also writing to myself, ‘time may dance around these ageing bones, but I’ll still be the one you used to know.’ It was a reminder I was still there, and it was time to get things moving again.”
On the video, he shares: “Time May Dance was filmed at Yellow Arch Studios in my hometown, Sheffield. It was shot by the brilliant Northern Cowboys film company. Yellow Arch is an institution in Sheffield, and sits alongside The Leadmill as another pillar of the Sheffield music industry. It’s a place I grew up rehearsing, recording and playing at when I was beginning my journey in music. So many great albums have been recorded there, from artists such as Richard Hawley, Jarvis Cocker, Duane Eddy and many more. You can feel the history in the building. It felt like the perfect place to shoot the live video, finding my feet again where I first started out.”
