The latest Folk Show is actually from a series of mixes I recently did for the Sidmouth Folk Festival (we are a media sponsor) for playing in between performances. I’ll be sharing a few of these, so for those of you that have been enjoying the festival, these may sound familiar.
Sidmouth Folk Festival is on until Friday 5th August, and we are co-curating A Cellarful of Folkadelia – more details of who is playing this year, along with ticket links, can be found here: https://sidmouthfolkfestival.co.uk/
This mix was one of the more mellow offerings and includes tracks from:
- the latest Spell Songs album Let the Light In;
- Ensemble Ériu, a septet led by Jack Talty and Neil Ó Loclainn;
- Dublin duo Varo;
- Folk/Roots duo Anna & Elizabeth (Anna Roberts-Gevalt and Elizabeth Laprelle);
- LAU (from their Folk Songs EP);
- TRÚ – a mythological trio of poet-musicians in ancient Ulster;
- Gaelic singer Kim Carnie with a track from her solo debut And So We Gather;
- a gorgeous single from Moira Smiley & Piers Faccini;
- a Penguin Cafe classic featuring Kathryn Tickell and
- a track from Nancy Elizabeth taken from the 2007 album Migrating Bird – The Songs of Lal Waterson.
