We recently shared several videos from Poor Creature, the new duo project from Ruth Clinton of the Dublin/Belfast group Landless (See Bleaching Bones review) and multi-instrumentalist Cormac MacDiarmada of Lankum. Mixing traditional and contemporary instrumentation, Poor Creature create an immersive soundscape of textures and drones seeped in the Irish folk tradition.
The experimental folk duo have just launched Féile na Gréine online ahead of the in-person festivities across Limerick City this weekend that returns to its full music-trail format. Watch the BYOL session below that includes three tracks: – Loreen, All Smiles Tonight and The Ghost of Willie O.
Féile na Gréine is an annual three-day music festival in Limerick City (19-21 August 2022). It is organised by local artists and curators and is run as a not-for-profit festival; all events are free for audiences. This year’s programme showcases emerging and experimental Irish music and is an exciting and eclectic mix of artists, including Brigid Mae Power, Junior Brother, and Post Punk Podge & the Technohippies. Special guest Little Hag (Bar/None) travels to the festival from New Jersey, USA.
Bring Your Own Lunch (BYOL) is a series of lunchtime gigs where Irish musicians are invited to perform in front of a hungry audience. Previous acts include Hazey Haze and Citrus Fresh, The Mary Wallopers, Naive Ted, and Maija Sofia. BYOL is a collaboration between Piquant Media and local music promoter Jack Brolly (Lower Your Expectations, Féile na Gréine). This special Féile na Gréine edition was shot in the LPYMA Major Hall, 97 O’Connell Street, Limerick City.
