Four-time Scots Singer of the Year, Siobhan Miller, returns with her first new music in over two years with the new single I’m a Rover. This new take on a traditional classic sees her reunited with many of the musicians from her BBC Folk Award Winning album Strata, including Lau’s Kris Drever, Jack Smedley of Rura, and Admiral Fallow frontman Louis Abbott on drums.
Siobhan first heard this well-loved song in her days singing in the sessions around Edinburgh and Glasgow. A popular night visiting song sung all over Scotland and Ireland tells the story of a lover visiting in the night only to leave the following day. I’m a Rover is the first single to be taken from Miller’s new album due out later this year, featuring a new collection of traditional and written folk songs that she loves reinvented by Siobhan and her band.
Siobhan says, “Singing this takes me right back to the sessions that filled me with love for folk songs and the feeling you can only get when in a room full of wonderful singers joining in at the tops of their voices. Returning to these songs felt like the perfect tonic to the last few years where this just hasn’t been possible.”
‘I’m a Rover’ is out now.
