Australian guitarist D.C Cross recently released Hot-wire the Lay-low which Glenn Kimpton reviewed for Folk Radio here. He described Cross’s playing as finely nuanced and diverse and noted his adventurous fretting hand. One of my personal favourites from the album is Lithgow Pink for which he has just shared a video.
I can honestly say that it’s a joy to watch and listen to this man play…you can’t keep your feet still…as Glenn said, this is a “player with plenty to say and all the skills to say it.”
Lithgow Pink is also our tune of the day. Order the album via Bandcamp: https://darrencross.bandcamp.com/album/hot-wire-the-lay-low-australian-escapist-pieces-for-guitar
Australian picker Darren Cross’s third album of solo guitar music comes from a place of travel and solitude, harnessing life’s recent restrictions and finding art in simplicity during the strangest time most of us can remember. The result of these pensive writings is a fine acoustic album appropriately recorded simply with no overdubs or studio nonsense. Glenn Kimpton, Folk Radio
