After celebrating their 15 years together in 2021, the Madrid-based foursome Track Dogs featuring two Irishmen, an Englishman and an American (Garrett Wall, Dave Mooney, Howard Brown & Robbie K. Jones), return on 18 March 2022 with Where to Now?, their most collaborative album to date.
The album features twelve musical guests, including Cathy Jordan of Dervish, the English folk band Banter, members of Robbie K. Jones‘ solo project The Potato Monsters, UK violinist Kate Moran and US singer Delories Dunn. The album also features some lush string arrangements from both sides of the Atlantic, courtesy of Eli Bishop in Nashville and Chris Demetriou & Adrianne Wininsky in Stockport.
The band recently released their new single, a cover of the James Taylor classic, ‘Carolina in my Mind’, the video for which we have the pleasure of sharing with you below.
Track Dogs on ‘Carolina in my Mind’:
In February 2020, the renowned Spanish Radio3 presenter Santiago Alcanda invited us to play at a James Taylor tribute concert. We picked this song and based our version on a little-known John Denver / Tom Jones live TV collaboration that we had seen on YouTube. It’s since then become a firm live favourite both for ourselves and fans.
We’re delighted to have also gotten the thumbs up from James himself as a Motor Home live version from 2020’s UK tour was shared on his Instagram page.
Released on Jan 17th to coincide with Blue Monday, which is considered the saddest day of the year, we wonder where it is you go to in your mind when you need to get away, to transport yourself to somewhere that always lifts your spirits. Or as James Taylor himself puts it, “that feeling of being called away to another place.”
This driven and acoustically bright number is enough to melt away any blues…
The cover art is a painting by the Kent-based artist Claire Tulppo.
“One of the great strengths of Track Dog’s music is the eclectic mix of genres they so successfully blend…brimming with confident and accomplished musicianship, first-rate vocal performances, and an abundant, utterly infectious, relish of the music itself.”
