We recently shared the news that on 2 February 2022, Welsh trio ALAW are to return with their new album Drawn to the Light and a new lineup. The newest member, Nia Lyn (voice/harmonium), will join Oli Wilson-Dickson on fiddle/voice and Dylan Fowler on guitar/voice on what promises to be another top-class offering.
The trio have several upcoming live dates (details below), and thanks to a video recorded at Wem Town Hall during their December 2021 tour (their first since coming out of Covid restrictions), we can witness that live musicianship in full effect on Fill the House. It’s very much a song of two parts, the first evoking the emotional moments of a couple reunited for one night and a celebratory second-half as they dance the night away.
“The song is about filling the house with joy”, explains fiddle player Oliver Wilson-Dickson “so what better way to show that, than a joyful performance in front of a full house!”.
The new album title “Drawn to the Light” was inspired by the anticipation of live music during the darker days of lockdown. It is a collection of traditional Welsh and original tunes and songs, loving crafted by three of the countries finest musicians. ALAW will launch the CD with a run of live shows starting on the 28th January. “I can’t tell you how excited we are to be performing live again and to have a new CD to share,” says Oliver “it really does feel like the light at the end of the tunnel.”
