6 January 2022 Update: Read the latest statement from Celtic Connections here: https://klofmag.com/2022/01/celtic-connections-latest-update/
The Scottish Government recently announced a number of restrictions to minimise the risk of widespread transmission of the Omicron variant.
In response, Celtic Connections, which is scheduled to run from 20 Jan – 6 Feb 2022, made the following announcement on their website today (23rd December):
Today’s announcement and the impact of the Omicron variant spells a very difficult time for events, fans and artists and we want to let our audiences know we are working extremely hard to bring audiences a Celtic Connections experience in 2022 in the safest possible way.
These restrictions and the timeline against future reviews present significant challenges for the festival. We are in active dialogue with the Scottish Government and other partners, as well as production staff, artists and other stakeholders, about our plans in light of evolving guidance.
Unfortunately, a small number of shows are no longer able to go ahead due to the ongoing disruption caused by the pandemic. Ticket holders for these shows will be contacted directly to arrange refunds or provide information on rescheduled dates.
We are reviewing all aspects of the festival and programme on an ongoing basis and looking at how we showcase the very best traditional folk and roots music that Scotland and the world has to offer.
We will update our audiences again with plans for the 2022 festival as soon as we can through this period of uncertainty.
