Earlier this year, Steve Gunn release his sixth studio album ‘Other You’, the title of which arose whilst he was struggling to find a musical note and having his producer Rob Schnapf feed his voice through a computer to discover it by essentially singing along to himself.
In his review of the album here, Glenn Kimpton described the album as ‘Gunn’s most elegant sounding solo record yet, with the sympathetic arrangements moving alongside each other fluidly throughout.’
Earlier this fall, Steve Gunn taped a live session at the Jackie Kannon’s Rat Fink Room in NYC, the first dedicated stand-up comedy club in the world founded in 1963. In the ten-minute short film, Gunn performs cavernous, dextrously arranged solo guitar versions of ‘Fulton’ and ‘On the Way’ from Other You.
Gunn has also announced additional US co-headlining tour dates with guitarist Jeff Parker, kicking off next month. The new dates include a special three-night run at Zebulon in Los Angeles – billed as “Steve Gunn, Jeff Parker, and Friends” – which will feature Gunn’s full backing band as well special guests.
