Earlier in October, South East London-based singer songwriter Luca Wilding released a spellbinding EP titled ‘Book of Fate’. The EP found Wilding following in the footsteps of the likes of Leonard Cohen and Adrianne Lenker. Like the latter’s abysskiss, Wildings atmospheric work is coated in similar gently forlorn colours.
Over four tracks, Wilding mapped an emotional musical journey centred around the ideas of forgiveness and how hurt also shapes us – it’s part of our growth and journey. Taken from that EP, watch Luca’s live and intimate performance of Nobody Game, recorded in Freshwater, Isle of Wight, on which he shared the following:
“This was a really special session. I made the long journey down to the island the night before and spent the night in the studio where we recorded the original version of Nobody Game. It brought back many memories of my time spent here, writing and pulling the song together and the strong sense of place I had felt then. The next day I woke to a bright, breathless morning and made my way with Tommy to the lovely little thatched church at Freshwater. There was a palpable stillness in the place, where Dave and Silas were already setting up, and Tommy and I started running through some of the songs we were going to play. When it came to record there was a beautiful, eerie silence which felt so perfect for the song. It felt good to perform it to no one, to the empty air of the ancient building.”
