The Fawn is the first full-length release by Minneapolis folk singer/songwriter Greta Ruth which reflects on the idea that our greatest virtues can also be our greatest vices. The accompanying video for the title track features her own editing and 16mm cinematography by Jim Melcher. Of the song and video she says:
A song that speaks to the human place between predator and prey, between feeling vulnerable and feeling strong. The fawns, darting around to the squeak of hands on guitar strings, are both sweet and cautious, curious and delicate. The narrator observes herself through the fawns, hoping to transcend her own vices and missteps through new knowledge of who she has been and who she could become.
The songs on ‘The Fawn’ were written from 2012 to 2019 and recorded to 4-track tape during the summer of 2020. Initially released by Corrector Records, ADR now presents it in cassette format.
The Fawn is out now on American Dreams Records.
