Having last performed here in 2019, Buck Curran of the duo Arborea will be returning to these shores at the beginning of April 2022 with a show at Helgi’s in London already confirmed for April 6th. Tentative dates include April 1st in Brighton, April 3rd in Bristol, and other shows TBA.
This tour will be the first live performance in the UK in support of his latest album ‘No Love Is Sorrow’ reviewed here.
“this optimism…shines through on a bewitching album that pulls the listener in many directions and exposes them to many emotions, created through splendid instrumental music, performed by a master, or narrative driven songs built around powerful writing. Composer, musician, luthier and curator Buck Curran is a man of many talents, as No Love is Sorrow further testifies.” Glenn Kimpton, Folk Radio UK
To celebrate this forthcoming leg of touring in the UK, Scottish video maker Dave Logan (who is now based in Bergamo – the same Italian town where Buck lives) is collaborating with Buck to film live performances around Northern Italy. The first collaboration, presented here, is a video for the song ‘New Moontide’ and features Buck’s musical collaborator Jodi Pedrali (a.k.a Joud) on Fender Rhodes and Keyboards. In this setting, Dave has captured the magical atmosphere of the outdoor venue and the deep musical connection between Buck and Joud. The video was filmed at La Base in the town of Palazzolo sull’Oglio in the region of Brescia in Northern Italy. The opening shot is an aerial view of Palazzolo sull’Oglio captured with the use of a drone.
