Delafaye is delighted to announce his new single ‘Dog Day’ (out October 29th). This follows his recent run of singles, ‘Ultraviolent’, ‘I’m Always Okay’ and ‘Heartbreaker’, which paved the way for his long-anticipated and long overdue return with the ‘Rose’ EP. Now he is back with a brand-new single which harks back to Delafaye’s first, more acoustic Americana EP’s, this time around building on his hallmark folk Americana sound with a rootsy alt-country edge, culminating in a warm and melancholic single which was self-recorded and self-produced at Beechwood Studios, his home studio in Indiana, USA.
Ever prolific, Delafaye (moniker of Andrew Shockley) has spent the last year re-establishing his roots in his new Indiana home. Moving to a new house, and more importantly, taking with him his home studio, which forms an integral part of his home life, he crafted a new batch of songs laced with the melancholy synonymous with Delafaye’s sound. ‘Dog Day’ continues that tradition. Written one Sunday on his deck whilst reflecting on a current relationship and its trails – “I knew that my relationship was coming to an end, and I felt defeated. That’s where the song came from for the most part. There was no bad blood between us, but it just wasn’t working for some reason, so I channeled it in to ‘Dog Day’”.
Going into the end of this year and early next, there will be further tracks surfacing from those Beechwood Sessions, ‘Dog Day’ the first of many that will mark Delafaye’s rightly, much-celebrated return.
Dog Day’ will be released on his long-time label Street Mission Records (distributed by [PIAS]) on October 29th, 2021.
