With his critically acclaimed new album Last of the Better Days Ahead now available on LP, CD and digital formats, US folk legend Charlie Parr announces a 2022 European Tour, including an extensive run of UK & Irish dates.
Back in July this year, US folk legend Charlie Parr released Last of the Better Days Ahead, an engrossing, captivating album from a tireless innovator, which we reviewed here. As noted in David Pratt’s review, besides a change of label, the album also marked something emphatically new – ‘an intense focus on the word, with his poetic lyricism afforded the opportunity to shine as it takes prime position in front of the sparse and spartan music production, best explained by the man himself.’
“These songs feel more like poems to me than songs, and I’ve kind of let them have their way in that respect. The music serves these lyrics, rather than the other way around, which is the way I usually organize songs.”
Over the course of a prolific career spanning 13 full-length albums, the Duluth virtuoso has earned a passionate following for his strikingly candid songwriting and raw stage presence. It feels like it’s been far too long since Charlie last played the other side of the pond. The man has a large, devoted fanbase outside of the US and a well-deserved reputation as one of the best roots musicians to catch live, so don’t miss out on this opportunity; he’ll be in the UK and Ireland in May 2022, see dates below.
