The Weather Station has shared a visualizer video for the track Better Now, which appears on the Deluxe Edition version of Ignorance, released digitally today. The album will also be released as a double LP on iridescent blue vinyl, with updated liner notes from Tamara Lindeman, in a gatefold jacket with Obi Strip and limited to 2,000 units worldwide.
The new release features nine additional tracks, including several live versions, alternate takes and two new tracks: Look and Better Now. In his review of the original release, Bob Fish touched on how despite the original album’s focus on planetary concerns, there was much to be taken on a personal level. Better Now couldn’t feel more personal:
Is it better now, that I don’t want it to be you that’s calling? Is it better now? I think we done quite enough talking. Is it better now? I never thought I’d get done with wanting to hear you out. Is it better now? You know I never thought about it till now, but it’s better now, I fall asleep so easily now, I strike the keys and strings resound, I press the pedal down. Is it better now? I crossed out the first line that I wrote down. Is it better now? I crossed out the second line that I wrote down. Is it better now? I crossed out the third line I tore the page out. Is it better now?
He also concludes that Ignorance “…is an album with heart and soul, two commodities that seem to be in short supply these days.” That statement feels equally relevant with Better Now, which is also our Song of the Day.
