Folk/Americana singer songwriter & guitarist Jason McNiff prepares to go on tour this Autumn in support of his widely acclaimed new album ‘Dust Of Yesterday‘, which was described on Folk Radio as ‘very much an autobiographical journey of his life so far, a threnody to past places, events and people, a lamentation for lost youth’.
In his album review here, David Pratt called ‘Dust of Yesterday‘ “a work of truly great merit,” while Thomas Blake has earlier referred to Jason on these pages as ‘a hidden gem in the British indie-folk scene…quietly and confidently building up a large body of consistently outstanding work.’
‘Dust of Yesterday‘ went on to receive widespread acclaim, including album of the week in The Times, described as ‘superb’ by Mojo, and ‘an immense talent’ by Janice Long on BBC Radio; we highly recommend you catch Jason at one of these intimate settings on his first UK headlining tour (see details below).
Jason tells us: ‘I am thrilled to be hitting the road at last and cannot wait to travel the length and breadth of the land playing my songs for music loving folks.’
Taken from the album, watch Jason’s video for ‘Wherever I Choose’; the song was written on a roof terrace in Palma, Mallorca and was inspired by hearing some vagrants in the Old Town playing guitars and singing.
“In this song I tried to describe the beauty of simple things, a walk through the ancient city, the freedom to wander…and somewhere along the line it led me to consider God and the existence of Free Will.”
