Sam Amidon heads to the East Coast of the US in October, and onwards to the UK in November with more dates to follow in the new year (see below). In November last year, Sam released his self-titled album on Nonesuch which saw a shift from his 2017 album The Following Mountain. In the words of Billy Rough, who reviewed the album here, it saw Amidon “take on the challenging task of reworking a series of traditional folk songs and is, by his own admission, the ‘fullest realization to date of his artistic vision’. And what a mesmeric, and haunting vision it is too. Characterised by songs which are not quite nu-folk, and not quite electronica, something harder to pin down but effortlessly alluring and charmingly addictive.”

Earlier this year, fellow American musician and composer Peter Broderick interviewed Sam as part of his ONE SONG series. Peter, who is now based in Ireland recently announced his new EP, “The Wind That Shakes The Bramble” inspired by Robert Dwyer Joyce’s poem and his own obsession with and devotion to the blackberry plant (read more).
