Berlin-based Irish/Norwegian singer-songwriter Tara Nome Doyle and Italian composer and pianist Federico Albanese have shared their video for Waiting (To The Riverside). Talking about the song, they said, “Sometimes you get this sudden feeling that you’ll remember an exact moment forever. ‘Waiting (To The Riverside)’ was written about a time like that, when it felt like one was looking back at a future memory whilst actually experiencing it for the first time.”
Time and memory are a theme that runs throughout their forthcoming EP, both sonically and visually. The title ‘The Moments We Keep’ was inspired by Virginia Woolf’s concept of time and her interest in fleeting moments and the perception of them being relative. The artwork for the series of singles use abstract images, movement of light that have a dreamy twilight feel to them. Even the video for this new single, directed by Luis Anversa, was shot in black and white. Black and white can be a beautiful and powerful medium, reducing noise and distraction and bringing contrast, shape and movement into greater focus. It typifies their music, plaintive piano overlaid by the exquisite vocals of Tara Nome Doyle; it’s a beautiful, captivating moment.
‘The Moments We Keep’ EP was recorded by Federico Albanese and Tara Nome Doyle in Berlin between January and April 2021. It features 4 songs written by the two of them. It was produced by Federico Albanese and Tara Nome Doyle, arranged and mixed by Federico Albanese at Overhear Studio in Berlin, and mastered in Berlin by Zino Mikorey. It’s released on Mecury KX, home to the likes of Anoushka Shankar, Keaton Henson and Olafur Arnalds…this seems to be the perfect home for them.
