Tomorrow sees the release of her latest single, Akaal. Talking about the song below, she mentions the need to stay close to the precious and fragile moments that we share; you can feel that sentiment throughout this moving and powerful live performance in Zürich.
Talking about the Akaal, Ajeet tells us:
The word “Akaal” means without death or ending, and is traditionally chanted at the passing of a loved one. I learned it in India, and have cherished this practice in my own life during times of loss or grief. The chant wove its way into a song a few years ago when I was staying in the mountains of Colorado. I stood in the forest listening to the wind whistling across the mountains, and felt so small in this vast circle of life against the dramatic rock forms before me. Life holds such beauty and tender pleasure, and it also holds pain and such deep sadness. In that moment I wrote this song to stay close to the precious and fragile moments we have to enjoy together, and to feel the soothing presence of life’s beauty in the most heartbreaking moments. This version is recorded in Zürich, and the sea of voices captured during this performance moves me to my core. I hope this live version of the song will bring you as much solace as it has for me.
Akaal is released tomorrow, 18 June 2021 and can pre-saved here: https://link.spiritvoyage.com/ajeet-akaal
