Rough Trade Books are to celebrate International Women’s Day today – Monday 8th March, in a special free event with Award-winning indie bookshop Forum Books. In their own words:
…despite things not feeling particularly celebratory these days. But perhaps these things matter all the more in our restricted lives—to raise our voices together, however we can, to shout about our work, our achievements, our experiences. This year, we’re chuffed to be working with the wonderful Rough Trade Books on an event that we hope will bring a little bit of everything that’s good to your screens.
We’ll have a couple of poets for you in Martha Sprackland and Briony Bax, we’ll have prose from Jen Calleja, Ren Aldridge, Charlotte Newman and Sheena Patel, and we’ll finish things off with the incredible prospect of Wendy Erskine and Salena Godden in conversation.
The event is free and will be online this evening from 7pm. You can book a ticket here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/international-womens-day-extravanganza-tickets-143702242275
Watch a reading from Briony Bax below as she reads a short selection from the hard-hitting, humorous and heartbreaking poems that make up Lament, Rough Trade Editions No. 37.
