I recently shared some news about a new project from Arbutus Yarns (Myles O’Reilly) – a film about the life Irish folk singer and songwriter Liam Weldon. Liam had a lifelong interest in the songs of the Irish Travellers and his own songs reflected a strong awareness of poverty, disadvantage and exploitation. He also organised the Pavees Club in Slatterys on Dublin’s Capel Street and sessions in the Tailor’s Hall and the Brazen Head. Read more about the project here.
One of Weldon’s most popular and powerful songs Dark Horse On The Wind. Back in 2018, Myles recorded Radie Peat of Lankum performing the song live for This Ain’t No Disco, the online Irish music showcase directed by Myles and hosted by DJ and visual artist Donal Dineen.
