Back in 2018, Steve Tilston graced us with his acoustic retrospective album ‘Distant Days’, a journey which took us from his debut album An Acoustic Confusion, released in 1971 on The Village Thing Record Label – which celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year – alongside many songs which are now considered classics. David Pratt reviewed the album on which he concluded:
Steve Tilston, one of our most revered songsmiths, has confirmed his reputation as a jewel in the folk and acoustic-world crown.
On his latest offering titled Such Times (out 29 January on Riverboat Records), he brings us up to date. Aided by his new self-designed Brooks ‘Calder‘ guitar, he steps into the well-acquainted role of social commentator and storyteller with new songs that reflect on homelessness, an early ramble on the moors, and the magical effect of music on children.
