You have to admire the resilience and broad vision of Jane Weaver. A pop composer, sound sculptress and singer, her music has been labelled pocket-punk, Synth-pop, acid folk, dark-ambient drones, Hollywood soundtracks and girl-group psych… Her latest album ‘Flock‘ was produced on a complicated diet of bygone Lebanese torch songs, 1980’s Russian Aerobics records and Australian Punk…but does that really come as a surprise?
She has shared the opening track ‘Heartlow’ which is accompanied by a music video from filmmaker and musician Douglas Hart (The Jesus and Mary Chain). As far as quotes go, you can’t get do better than this.
Heartlow is my attempt at an uplifting tragi-pop parade for the trials of modern times disguised as a homage to a lost generation of misfit girl groop records. Written in hibernation in an out of season French coastal town surrounded by ancient stone circles and arthurian forests.
