I can’t tell you a lot about Tina Loeffler other than that she’s a singer songwriter based in the North of the Black Forest in Germany where she crafts her songs in a home studio. I use that word ‘craft’ with full intention as when I heard Through the Ice and saw the accompanying artwork – that word just seemed ever so appropriate. The single is the first from a new EP planned for release in March 2021.
Her bio tells us that after gaining experiences in various kind of music since a very young age, it was the well-known sound of an acoustic guitar and an old piano which captured her heart and forms the base of her acoustic folk music. She also has a love for poetry and nature…I’ll let the music do the talking.
Lyrics to Through the Ice
No chance to tame the core where the fire is burning
Behind the door awakes another morning
The head is caught in the house while the feet will keep walking
Where the rivers running wild our hopes belonging
We are the same down there by the riverside
Gazing hungry through the ice
Our whispers are loud to hear
We are the same down there where the floes collide
Gazing hungry through the ice
Our songs become crystal clear
At least the stars form the kingdom of our guidance
Ruling the dark when all we want is hiding
The fingers hold on the frame while the eyes are busy exploring
Where the rivers slowing down our dreams start growing
We are the same down there by the riverside
Gazing hungry through the ice
Our whispers are loud to hear
We are the same down there where the floes collide
Gazing hungry through the ice
Our songs become crystal clear
And even when we feel so small
A single step can make us tall
Taking the route with ringing and roar
With the rhythm we were born
And even when we feel so small
A single step can make us tall
Taking the route with ringing and roar
With the rhythm we were born
We are the same down there by the riverside
Gazing hungry through the ice
Our whispers are loud to hear
We are the same down there where the floes collide
Gazing hungry through the ice
Our songs become crystal clear
