October saw the release of ‘To Our Children‘, the new album from Anglo-Dutch singer-songwriter Gitta de Ridder. For this release, she journeyed across Europe for 8 months driven by the desire to understand and capture the deeper need for culture and identity many of us seem to feel. In keeping with that journey, the album features musicians from many different countries, including a Spanish guitarist, an Italian string quartet and an English children-choir and more.
Taken from the album, we have the pleasure of sharing “To Wonder”, a word, to me, that brings a warm glow…something I hope we never lose…without it, Gitta may never have made that journey or this album. Inspired by the likes of First Aid Kit and Gillian Welch this tune captures a laid back country-vibe. Prominent features of Pedal Steel guitar and smooth drum rhythms only adding to Gitta’s engaging vocal performance.
She tells us it’s “A ‘cheers’ to oddballs & outcasts. Celebrating the beauty that each and every one of us has to offer. ‘Here’s to wonder!'”
