While we are all missing getting out to live gigs, one silver lining to this now common situation is the broader access to events online that many would have otherwise have missed. Quiet Lights is one example, a festival that has stood out for us in their fresh approach to showcasing music. The festival was launched in 2018, a small-scale festival with a big heart, which aims to shine a light on the new wave of Irish and International folk, traditional, and experimental talent that are quietly forging new paths – showcases some shining lights of the Irish music scene.

This Sunday, 6th December at 8pm, Quiet Lights are hosting a special online concert features the unique partnership of Iarla Ó Lionáird and Steve Cooney while Cork singer-songwriter Marlene Enright and Cork-based harpist, singer and fiddle player Aoife Blake complete this stellar line up.
Founder of Quiet Lights festival, Jonathan Pearson says:
“Quiet Lights are thrilled to be working with close friends and partners the Cork Opera House to showcase these three acts, all at different stages in their career.
Aoife Blake is a sensational traditional musician with a bright future ahead of her, Marlene Enright has released work that has gained her national and international attention and award nominations, and Iarla O’Lionaird & Steve Cooney are internationally renowned masters of their craft, known the world over as pivotally important musicians in Irish traditional and contemporary music.
I was particularly happy to see Steve recognised with an unprecedented four RTE Radio One Folk Awards last week, which goes a small bit towards recognising his incalculable contribution to folk music in Ireland. We hope you join us on Sunday for this livestreamed event at 8pm.”
