West Country-based duo Faeland, featuring Rebecca Nelson and Jacob Morrison, have unveiled an animated video by Sofja Umarik for Easier, their recently released new single. Readers may recall their 2018 debut album All My Swim which was also one of our Albums of the Year. The good news is that the single is taken from a new Faeland album, When I Close My Eyes, due in February 2021, here’s what we said about their last:
There’s movement throughout this album, like a sleepy current with latent power that comes into its own as the river narrows. Full of songs you long to return to – because there’s certain to be a gorgeous detail that passed you by on the first listen. Throughout, Faeland exhibit a soft, measured assurance in the performances and a rich, inviting warmth in the production. All My Swim is a debut that does far more than impress, it delights.
Easier, which features guest musician Rob Pemberton on drums (The Staves, Rachael Dadd), is intended as a message of hope forged in an imagined land of crones and upside-down trees. Acoustic guitar, soothing vocals and joyful charango burst through to deliver us all a much-needed balm for these challenging times.
Faeland are keeping their love of live performance alive by performing free concerts every other Wednesday:
