Buck Curran of the much-missed psych-folk duo Arborea recently shared some videos that were filmed in Lewiston Maine in 2013. Watch Buck and Shanti performing ‘When I Was On Horseback’ in the old clock tower of the Lewiston City Hall. Among there many influences, Martin Simpson (as they shared in this 2009 mix for Folk Radio UK) was frequently mentioned of which this was the title track of his 1991 album.
Although Arborea are no longer, Buck Curran has been kept very busy since having released a number of solo albums set up his own record label (Obsolete Recordings) and moved to Bergamo, Italy where he now lives with his growing family – Adele and daughters Francesco and Lucia – Lucia was born in July, shortly after he wrote a very personal piece about the Pandemic which you can read here.
Earlier this year Buck also released No Love is Sorrow which Glenn Kimpton reviewed – he concluded that it was “a bewitching album that pulls the listener in many directions and exposes them to many emotions, created through splendid instrumental music, performed by a master, narrative driven songs built around powerful writing. Composer, musician, luthier and curator Buck Curran is a man of many talents, as No Love is Sorrow further testifies.”
No Love is Sorrow is now available on vinyl, we encourage you to purchase it via Bandcamp (as well as CD/Digital) here: https://obsoleterecordings.bandcamp.com/album/no-love-is-sorrow
