Earlier this year, Welsh Music Prize winner Georgia Ruth returned to her roots with her third album Mai, described by David Kidman as a beguiling delight in his Folk Radio review here.
Having moved back to her native Aberystwyth following the birth of her son, Mai was recorded in the town’s Grade-II listed Joseph Parry Hall over the course of one week in Spring 2019. Named after the renowned composer and professor, the room was used as a venue for chamber concerts throughout the twentieth century and offered musicians a view of the sun setting over the castle as they worked.
In follow-up, Georgia is now releasing Mai:2, a collection of reworks/remixes of 4 tracks from her album. Recruiting the talents of Gwenno, Quodega, Accü and Cotton Wolf, these re-imagines showcase the talent of Georgia’s songwriting alongside the individual and unique minds of the aforementioned artists.
Mai:2 will be available digitally from November 20th, 2020 through Bubblewrap Collective and 25% of sales go to Ni Yw Y Byd charity.
