Back in 2018, we were graced with You Never Were Much of a Dancer, the debut offering from Welsh-born American primitivist Gwenifer Raymond. As well as featuring in our Albums of the Year, our reviewer Glenn Kimpton, was very taken by the release: “…a fresh and exciting piece of work from a performer who understands the ideas behind using a solo instrument to explore textures cultures and techniques. Dancer is an absorbing, original and varied debut that demonstrates the skill and consideration this talented musician possesses.”
Gwenifer Raymond returns on November 13th with her new album Strange Lights Over Garth Mountain, again released on the excellent Tompkins Square. This new release finds Raymond ranging into unexplored experimental territory, drawing from her Welsh roots.
She has just dropped her second single and video from the album – Hell For Certain:
