Pioneering Northumbrian Piper and fiddle player Kathryn Tickell is to join forces with her dad, poet and singer Mike Tickell and her brother Peter (Sting, Peatbog Fairies, Birdie and Afro-Celt Sound System) in a special one-off concert at Sage Gateshead on Saturday, 24th October 2020 at 8:00 PM. The concert will also be streamed live, tickets for which are available via the Sage Gateshead website linked below.
This is the first time they have performed as a trio for over 15 years. You can expect virtuosic musicianship, evocative soundscapes, reflections on a Northumbrian lockdown, clog dancing from special guest Heather Ferrier and all the warmth of a family gathering.
Holly Clarke will also be a special guest joining the trio for a pre-concert performance on the Concourse Stage.
Holly, a Cumbrian musician and singer, is a former Sage Gateshead Artist in Residence and Summer Studios alumnus. Her songs are steeped in the tradition of ballad singing and storytelling, exploring these old songs and finds new ways to perform their unique narratives.
Prior to lockdown, Kathryn had been sharing a series of videos “Tune of the Month” on Youtube with special guests, here she is with her Dad Mike on a little trip out to Cavers Castle in the Borders.
