Hudson Records Listening Club – Fay Hield – Wrackline
Sunday 20th September – 10.30am
Looking at traditional stories involving the ‘otherworld’ of fairies, ghosts and the animal kingdom, Fay Hield’s new album ‘Wrackline’ explores our emotional responses to the space between their reality and our own. Fay is accompanied on the new album by a stellar cast of some of the finest folk musicians working today; Rob Harbron, Sam Sweeney, Ben Nicholls and Ewan MacPherson.
Wrackline is currently a Featured Album of the Month on Folk Radio UK. In his review of the album, which you can read here, Thomas Blake concluded:
Hield gives herself to the song as completely as the hare gives up its body to the witch. It is a rapturous and strangely life-affirming way to end a record that is often haunted by death or loss, and it helps to cement the album as more than a mere collection of songs. Wrackline is a stunning and complete work of art, put together with great care and skill and performed with Hield’s distinctive magic.
Join Fay and her band as they listen to and discuss her brilliant new album, Fay will be online to chat about the album throughout the listening club so say hello in the comments area.
