Ailie Robertson has released a new single titled Ivan’s which is our Tune of the Day. The tune was written in memory of Ivan MacDonald from North Uist who, as well as being a friend of Ailie’s was also a crofter and Pipe Major of the Uist Pipe Band.
The tune feels steeped in memories, bookended by Ailie’s gentle harp playing which compliments the single’s beautiful coastal image. The tune gradually lifts, beginning with Sean Gray’s flute and carried aloft by Moshen Amini’s concertina. It’s as much a tune of remembrance as it is a celebration of life, beautifully balanced by Ailie and those wonderful musicians and friends, a lovely tribute.
