Rachel Newton has shared the first single from her new album To The Awe. Needless to say, the making of the album wasn’t without its challenges considering the restrictions brought into place during the COVID pandemic.
The album was recorded against the odds during the lockdown, with support from my generous Kickstarter contributors. I’m ever grateful to my incredible bandmates and engineer Mattie Foulds, who went above and beyond to make this project a reality despite the fact none of us could leave our homes for the duration.
The songs on the album place women at the centre of their narrative, at various stages of life and often marking a coming of age and an acquisition of power. The record is a tribute to the women who have inspired me and is influenced by my recent work around the representation of women in the music industry.

The title track, To The Awe, is out now along with an accompanying video by Marry Waterson whom Rachel has collaborated with to create some beautiful videos for the singles.
