Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin is a Dublin based sean-nós singer, flute and concertina player, once you hear his voice, you’re unlikely to forget it. Some of you may recall that he featured on Jiggy’s last album Hypernova.
He hails from a musical family, his father Peadar, also a sean-nós singer, was born and raised in Connemara, Co. Galway and comes from a long line of poets and singers. As well as writing about sean-nós singing, Peadar also lectures and runs workshops on traditional singing and the songs of Connemara.
Eoghan’s mother is Úna Lawlor, a classical violinist, and his two sisters Saileog and Muireann are also accomplished singers and musicians.
He’s also full-time member of the political party ‘People Before Profit’. He has a strong conviction when it comes to protecting workers rights and fighting against exploitation. That same conviction is reflected in The Deepest Breath below which is also our Song of the Day – it’s also the latest film offering from the incredible Myles O’Reilly.
