Back in March, we shared a track from Fran & Flora, a remix of La Obreja, a traditional song from Banat, Transylvania. They were about to perform at The Old Baths of Hackney Wick, a unique space with an equally enthralling history. The performance marked a year since the release of their first album.
Years of mutual collaboration and an incredibly deep musical bond has resulted in some of the most intuitive and authentic music today. Today we’re able to share some of the fruits of that special occasion at The Old Baths with a live video of them performing Doriden + Hamanul, traditional Jewish tunes from Eastern Europe:
Fran & Flora:
The 2nd in our series of live videos from our headline show at The Old Baths in Hackney Wick, London, in March 2020 just days before the lockdown. These are our arrangements of three traditional Jewish tunes from Eastern Europe. The first is one of our favourite tunes, ‘Dobriden’ (good day), a traditional listening tune at a Jewish wedding party from the mammoth ‘Beregovski’ tune collection. The second and third melodies come from Maramures in Transylvania and would have been played at Purim.
You can catch them performing live at Rosslyn Court on 5th August 7.30-8.30pm UK time via Youtube:
