As the countdown begins to the release of ‘Good Luck, Seeker‘ (21 August), the new album from The Waterboys, they have shared a new single and video from the album.
‘The Soul Singer’ tells of a singer who likes to grumble and scoff about all the “cats who ripped him off”. “He gets away with being rude, cause everyone’s scared of his quicksilver moods” and although he’s been through the wringer he still has that ‘sweet golden music that lives in his heart’. It’s an upbeat full-on horn-driven number and the accompanying psychedelic video was filmed in his new home studio which he managed to finish building before lockdown. There are a few theories on who Mike Scott may be singing about…
He gave no clues away on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show yesterday morning but I know who my money would be on…
What Scott did say is that Good Luck, Seeker is an album of two halves, with songs in the first and spoken word over music in the second so plenty to look forward to.
