Previously planned for release in May, Seasick Steve‘s new album ‘Love & Peace’ will finally get to see the light of day on 24th July. While he’s missed out on a planned album tour which would have helped to promote the release, the anticipation this album has received has not abated with fans. His recent singles have also picked up some great radio support from the likes of Chris Evans at Virgin Radio, Steve Wright and Cerys Matthews at Radio 2 as well as a playlist at Planet Rock.
Seasick now provides a further taster ahead of the July 24th release of ‘Love & Peace’ by sharing his new foot-stomping single ‘Church Of Me’.
On ‘Church Of Me’, Seasick sings of living life on your own terms “just want to go my own way, try to get free”, with the added encouragement to others to “just be your own self, that’s all you got to do.” Despite the reflective nature of the song with its mellow easy-rollin’ blues intro, there is mid-point garage-rock shift during which, on a second visit, features a great harmonica solo from Malcolm Arison (The BossHoss).
The scenic video, check those deep blue sky, was filmed along the coastlines of California and Australia’s Gold Coast and we’re told that the eagle in the video just happened to fly by at the perfect moment!
The ‘Love & Peace’ album was produced by Seasick Steve, who also mixed the album with Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton), while long-term musical companion Dan Magnusson contributed drums. The majority of the album was recorded in Los Angeles at Studio 606 and East West Studio 3, with additional recording taking place at his barn.
All four singles from ‘Love & Peace’ (‘Church Of Me’, ‘Carni Days’, ‘Clock Is Running’ and the title track) are available as instant downloads for fans who pre-order the album from Seasick’s official store, as well as being available on all streaming platforms. The album’s various formats include a heavyweight clear vinyl packaged with a signed print of the cover.
