Taken from their forthcoming album ‘Chaos Wonderland’ (31st July 2020 on Banana & Louie Records) Colorama have shared a video for their latest single ‘Dusty Road’. The vintage Martian-like landscape coverart for the single was designed by Bryan Olson, a collage artist and designer based in Portland, Oregon. That same aesthetic carries over into the video which was made by Cardiff’s On-Par Productions using a 70’s American educational film for school kids.
Talking of ‘Dusty Road’ Ellis says “Dusty Road is about an outcast on the run – he’s crossed the wrong people and boy, are they gonna make him pay. If they can catch him, that is…The video features a hazy re-working of a mid 70’s American educational film for school kids which is a cautionary tale about the hazards of joyriding. The only thing is, they made it look a little too cool so I’m not sure how much of a deterrent it was!”
Dusty Road is also our Song of the Day.
Chaos Wonderland is the seventh full-length album by Colorama, depending on who you believe (it’s the ninth if you include the ‘mini’ albums).
Why Chaos Wonderland? Colorama frontman Carwyn Ellis explains, “well.. I’ve travelled a lot these last few years and I’ve seen a lot of places in total flux, upheaval and yes – chaos. Nowhere more so than at home. But at the same time, I’ve seen much to make me cheerful, not least in the beautiful sights I’ve witnessed, along with the warmth and inherent goodness of the vast majority of people I’ve encountered”.
