Kris Drever returns with a brand new single “Where The World Is Thin” on June 19th 2020. The Glasgow based (Orkney born) musician has won multiple awards including an incredible 7 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, two shortlist nominations for Scottish Album of The Year (with his trio Lau) and much acclaim for his solo recordings and concerts including glowing reviews from Folk Radio as well as The Herald, The Guardian, Mojo and Q Magazine.
About the new song Kris says…
‘Thin places’ are the parts of the world where heaven and earth are less than three feet apart. No one knows if they’re set in stone or fluid; they’re an ancient explanation for our most spiritual moments.
You can watch Kris performing Where The World Is Thin live below which is also our Song of the Day. From that beautiful guitar opening to the last note, it’s a captivating listen; another lovingly crafted song let slip into the world by this top-class Scottish songwriter and guitarist.
Kris’ previous single “Scapa Flow 1919” was nominated for Best Original Track by BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards whilst his (John Parish produced) album with Lau, “Midnight and Closedown” was released in 2019 by Reveal Records to wild acclaim including being chosen in The Best Albums of The Year feature by The Guardian.
Drever’s voice and guitar form a part of the backbone of today’s contemporary roots and folk scene. Hugely admired as a solo artist, collaborator, a phenomenal and prolific artist. Kris has collaborated with Cream’s Jack Bruce, Tinariwen, Joan As Police Woman, Jerry Douglas, Danny Thompson, Rosanne Cash, Eddi Reader, Julie Fowlis, Karine Polwart, Seckou Keita, The Lost Spell Songs collective and many more. One of Scotland’s finest and most in-demand musicians.
