James P Honey has announced the release of his new EP ‘underneath a sulking sky’ which is set for release on 12th June. The EP was due for release on vinyl accompanied by a European tour – which sadly and obviously isn’t happening. He tells us “…so rather than sit on it I would prefer to give it away to be enjoyed. The songs were recorded in Prague at jamor studio and feature my dear friend mesparrow on backing vocals.”
He plans to have a live gig streamed on Facebook and full release online everywhere on 12th June but in the meantime, watch his new video for the track Father which was directed by Pascal Boudet and is available via Bandcamp now as a “name your price” here. It’s also our Song of the Day.
Lyrics
my father he is old and i’m no longer young but i was once
life’s a haze of roads and hotel rooms for hard to tell how long now
funny how a day can seem so slow
but a year – it’s here then it goes
london in the cold is a still still storm yeh a sick horse
while away i force myself to think of home but the only thing i miss is
my ember
seems i fair well when on the move
hills on horizon looking blue
i’ve seen the seasons turn now near thirty-five years or so and counting
my brother he’s a rogue and i love him so much feels like i’m dying
just breathing
seems i fair well when on the move
hills on horizon looking blue
funny how a day can seems so slow
but a year – it’s here then it goes
