One of the releases which made it to our Best Album of 2018 was We are the Wildlife, the debut album from celebrated Irish singer-songwriter Brona McVittie. In his album review here, Thomas Blake concluded:
“We Are The Wildlife is an album that wears its Celtic heart firmly on its sleeve, but for all that, it is an outward-looking piece of work, characterised by a deep understanding of natural processes, of travel and of a shared heritage – musical, cultural and geographic – that merits preservation but also explores change. It is a profoundly powerful and quietly ambitious statement and one of the most distinctive debuts you are likely to hear all year.”
Earlier this year we provided with a tantalising glimpse of what’s to come from her forthcoming sophomore album The Man in the Mountain with her new single The Green Man/Eileen Aroon. Today, we have the great pleasure in sharing a recent lockdown session that Brona recorded especially for Folk Radio during which she performs stripped-back versions of those two songs.
Enjoy and please support her (details below).
You can help Brona raise funds for her new album production by purchasing one of a handful of remaining limited-edition CD singles: The Green Man and Eileen Aroon featuring electronic duo Isan, an organic cotton Green Man tote bag or colourful Green Man t-shirt (sizes for ladies and gents available).
