After years spent honing his craft, this Summer sees Cork-based Irish folk singer-songwriter, Paddy Dennehy releases his soul-searching debut album, Little Light. His brand-new single/video, ‘Painting Of A New Country’ is out on May 29th and premieres today on Folk Radio.
Paddy Dennehy: “I’m thrilled to bits that Folk Radio UK have picked up Painting of a New Country. It’s very dear to me as it always reminds me of the type of relationship you can only have when you’re a little younger and maybe a little more naive. Where you take up every inch of one another. Where you become so closed off to the outside world that you become a country unto yourselves. Of course, you can’t live your whole life like that; other factors come into play eventually – work, money and even other people, but it’s wonderful to be reminded that for a brief period you didn’t gave a damn for anyone or anything else.
“Michael’s painting ‘The Old Boreen’ was shot over nine hours and it’s a perfect accompaniment to the video. It’s the type of scene you imagine when you talk about running away together and on a personal note, I loved getting a brief insight into how he works. He’s such an incredible artist. The video was filmed over nine hours and I couldn’t be happier with the end result. Ambiguous Fiddle Media did painstaking work timing the video to speed up and slow down depending on where we are in the song. I’m tremendously lucky to have worked with so many talented people on this video…and all done at a safe distance might I add!”
