Today, Toby Hay & David Ian Roberts are releasing a new EP titled ‘CAPEL Y GRAIG – Improvisations’. The Ep was named after the incredible venue it was recorded at in Ffwrnais/Furnace, Ceredigion on Saturday 13th July 2019. The sound is quite incredible, there is no artificial reverb, it’s all just them using the natural space of the venue.
Toby tells us: “It is an extraordinary space to play music. The building has a life of its own. One of the most unusual, and powerful natural reverbs I have ever heard. Listening to these recordings now makes me smile. It reminds me how important it is to play music with friends. All three recordings are completely improvised pieces, we let the space guide us as to what to play. It also features me on a beautifully out of tune, old piano.”
On the EP, David plays 6 String Guitar and Toby is on the 12 String Guitar and Piano. It was mixed by Tim Hay.
For the month of May, all proceeds go to Tŷ Hafan, the hospice for children in Wales so today would be an ideal time to head over to Bandcamp and purchase it as Bandcamp have waivered their fees today so that means more money goes to the hospice.
